The City Council took the following action at its meeting Tuesday:

Ordinance granting the application of the Ambassador Club to rezone property at 364 Peninsula Ave. from residential multi-family RM-60 and residential RM-75 to commercial C-2-K.

Ordinance granting the application by Donald Baker and James Tinnell to rezone 2200 Frederick Blvd. from commercial C-1 to commercial C-2-K.

Approved, 7-0

Resolution granting a use permit to Suzette Forbes to operate a residential care facility at 3229 Knox St.

Approved, 7-0

Park View Neighborhood: Use permit request of Shirley F. Hines and John W. Hill to operate a private school at 1012 Blair St.

Withdrawn, 7-0.

Resolution approving the proposed policy on Public-Funded Development Incentives and Intra-Regional Competition, deferred from the June 13 City Council meeting.

Ordinance granting the application by Development Options Inc. to rezone 5601 High St. from commercial, C-2-K conditional, office residential OR-75-K conditional, residential RM-75-K conditional to commercial C-2-K conditional.

Approved, 4-3 with Clemons, Martin and Robinett opposed.

Ordinance to amend Chapter 24 of the city code by adding sections 24-260, 24-261 and 24-262 to conform with a General Assembly amendment to the state code specifically authorizing municipalities to prohibit loitering in public places or on public or private property.

Ordinance to amend Section 35-13 (a) of the city code to allow the City Treasurer to collect any and all personal property taxes and machinery and tool taxes which are past due prior to allowing the Commissioner of the Revenue to issue a business license.

Ordinance to amend chapter 38 of the city code, section 38-40 (a) (1), to allow developers to pay a lower connection fee when they install the tap, water service line, meter connection and meter box as part of the development work.

Resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation establish an Urban Highway Project to permit the U.S. Navy to construct a new left turn lane at the entrance into the Scott Center Annex on George Washington Highway.
