IRENE J. GAUDREAU

Irene Jurczykowna Gaudreau, 66, of Portsmouth, died on Wednesday, July 26, 1995, in Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.

She was born in Germany, and survived the Holocaust having been in Dachau Concentration Camp. She was the widow of C.P.O. Joseph P. Gaudreau, U.S.N. Retired.

Mrs. Gaundreau was a well-known cake decorator in the Tidewater area, and worked for many years with Mrs. Smith's Pies Inc. until her retirement. She was a Catholic. She was known for her generosity toward her friends, neighbors and acquaintances, and was an admirer of nature and lover of animals.

Survivors include a daughter, Carmen K. Bittinger, and her husband, Chuck of Norfolk; and five grandchildren, Alexandra Bittinger, Anthony Bittinger, and Kristien B. Thornton, all of Norfolk, Kathryn Bittinger of Virginia Beach, and Karen Peters of Hillsborough, N.C.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 1995, n Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by Chaplain Fr. Allen Travers. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Portsmouth S.P.C.A., the American Cancer Society or to the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md.
