Alonza Walker Jr., 66, of the 1000 block of Anderson St., died Aug. 19, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Walker retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, and from the School Board of Norfolk. He was born in Birmingham, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Walker; one daughter, Willie Mae Ryan of Norfolk; his mother, Nellie M. Steward of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Margueree Walker of Cleveland, Lizzie Mae Peoples of East Cleveland; one brother, Walter J. Walker of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Toni S. Kimble of Virginia Beach and Ronald C. Palmer Jr. of Norfolk; one great-grandchild, Craig B. Kimble Jr. of Virginia Beach; one son-in-law, Abraham A. Ryan of Norfolk.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, by the Rev. Thomas M. Venable. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at 930 Norchester Ave., at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession. There will be a wake from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
