FRANCES H. GILLETTE

Frances Hundley Gillette, 75, of the 7700 block of Bergen St., died Aug. 31, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Gillette was born in Southampton County, Va. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, 2709 Greendale Ave., Norfolk. Mrs. Gillette originated the March of Dimes drive for the Little Creek area, and coordinated the neighborhood canvassing for many years. She was an honorary member of the Little Creek Women's Club for 40 years.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Gillette Jr., with whom she celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary on May 22, 1995; two daughters, Anne G. Murphy of Reading, Pa., Betty G. Evans of Virginia Beach; one sister, Edna Simmons of Courtland, Va.; one brother, Jack Hundley of Sedley, Va.; and three grandchildren, Brian Murphy, Gwendolyn Murphy, Mallory Evans.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. G.C. Shepperd. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
