Alfear Perry Artis, of 34000 block of Rochelle Swamp Road, died Saturday Sept. 2, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
She was a native of Southampton County, Va., and worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Boykins.
She is survived by her husband, Abel Lee Artis; three daughters, Brenda V. Artis, Shirl J. Artis, Valerie P. Artis, all of Newsoms, Va.; four sons, Ulysses A. Artis, Bernard T. Artis, Stacy Artis, all of Newsoms, Preston W. Artis of Carrollton, Va.; two sisters, Olivia P. Hill of Norfolk, Slylvia P. Brown of Franklin; two brothers, Hugh H. Perry of Smithfield, Va., and James N. Perry of Franklin, Va.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony Ferebee. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will begin today at 9:30 a.m. Wm. M. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling the arrangements.
