COUPLE'S NEW MAGAZINE ON DECORATING TAKES THE CAKE

AMERICA'S FIRST cake-decorating magazine is a labor of love. And, the product of love as well.

When Bob Harte and Adlynn Kustin of Sterling, Va., were engaged, Adlynn decided to make their wedding cake.

After taking a cake-decorating course and getting married in January, Adlynn, who is a lawyer, looked for cake-decorating magazines. She found two from Great Britain, one from Australia and one from South Africa. But it seemed no one in America published a similar magazine, using American sugars and American frosting styles.

So, the couple took another leap: Bob quit his computer-installation job and the duo launched American Cake Decorating Magazine.

The inaugural issue has everything from basics - how to frost a cake - to advanced techniques, tips, children's projects, profiles of talented decorators and a calendar of events.

American Cake Decorating is sold locally at Party Cakes and Things in Virginia Beach. To subscribe, write American Cake Decorating Magazine, P.O. Box 1385, Sterling, Va. 20167-8440 (703) 430-2356. A one-year (six-issue) subscription costs $19. by CNB
