Police on Monday arrested a 29-year-old Newport News man in connection with the shooting death of Catrina Mechelle Garner, whose body was found in a ditch Sunday morning.
Eric Lee Reid of the first block of Mytilene Drive was arrested Monday night. He was charged with murder and use of a firearm and was being held in the Newport News Jail on $150,000 bond.
Police said Reid and Garner, 32, were acquaintances.
Garner was found in the 1300 block of 79th St. about 9:20 a.m. by two passers-by, police said.
She died of multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
