CLAUDE D. CROTTY

Claude A.D. Crotty, 74, a Portsmouth resident during the 1940's and 50's, died July 17, 1995, in Horton Medical Center in Middletown after a long illness.

Mr. Crotty was born April 12, 1921, to Archie H. Crotty and Katherine Schoenweiss Crotty in Middletown. He was a mechanic for C.R. Wolfe and a member of Webb Horton Presbyterian Church, both in Middletown. He was a veteran of the World War II Marine Corps and landed on Guadalcanal. He was a member of American Legion Post 151, Middletown, and Rangers Hunting Club of Sullivan County; president of Upton Grove Hunting Club of Westbrookville, N.Y.; and former member of Excelsior Hook and Ladder and Silver Lake Fire Company, Middletown. He was also a member of A.A.R.P.

Survivors include wife, Dora Leary Crotty; one daughter, Susan C. McClinsey, both of Middletown; two grandsons, James and Jason McClinsey; one sister, Eleanor Keasel of Middletown; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudia Dora Crotty.

A funeral was held Thursday, July 20, 1995, in Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Inc. Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown. Interment was in Scotchtown Cemetery, Scotchtown, N.Y. The Rev. Kenneth and Rev. Susan Faye Wonderland officiated .
