LINWOOD G. WEST

Linwood G. West, 71, a resident of Waverly, died Sept. 28, 1995, in Chippenham Hospital in Richmond.

Mr. West was the son of the late William J. and Martha Gomer West. He retired in 1989 from Commonwealth Gas Corp., Petersburg, (now Columbia Gas Corp.) after 25 years service and he was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Waverly Congregational Christian Church, a former member of the Waverly Ruritan Club and he was an honorary member of the Waverly Hunt Club.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bain West; two daughters, Barbara W. Rowe of Virginia Beach, Deborah W. Richards of Waverly; two sisters, Martha Eleanor Briggs of Henrico County, N.C., Mary Kathryn Britt of Disputanta; three grandchildren, Amy Rowe Blackburn, Arthur Kemp ``Chip'' Rowe Jr., both of Richmond, Susan Nicole Troth of Waverly; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Blackburn of Richmond. Mr. West had many loved nieces and nephews from the West and Bain families.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by Dr. David G. Brown Jr. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Burial will be in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Waverly Congregational Christian Church or to the American Heart Association.
