WILSON E. KELLEY JR.

Wilson Earl Kelley Jr., 74, of the 3500 block of Shelton Road, died Oct. 4, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Kelley, a native of Portsmouth, was a retired captain firefighter from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He worked there for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Amphibious Division. He participated in D-Day Invasion of France in which he was at Omaha Beach, June 6, 1944. He was one of the first units to found Little Creek Amphibious Base.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Stroud Kelley; two daughters, Earleen Miller of New Orleans, La., Jeanne Carey of Boston, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Revs. Marilyn and Bob Danner. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park View Christian Church Endowment Fund.
