James Walter Bryant Sr., 78, of Main Street, died Oct. 31, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
A life-long resident of Southampton County, he was the son on Mills Thomas and Susie Drewry Bryant. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Bryant was a retired farmer and member of the Boykins United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Drake Bryant; daughter, Joan Rae Hill; three sons, J. Walter Bryant Jr., Lloyd R. Bryant and Raymond L. Bryant, all of Boykins; brother, Thomas Bryant of California; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Beechwood Cemetery by the Rev. John Davenport. The family will receive friends at the residence. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
