MINNIE P. DESMOND

Minnie Pugh Desmond, of the 2400 block of Cottage Ave., died Nov. 2, 1995, in Hillhaven Holmes Nursing Center.

She was a retired mail and delivery clerk of Hofheimers Inc. where she worked for more than 40 years. She was a native of Princess Anne County, and the daughter of the late Josiah and Priscilla Haynes Pugh. She was the widow of Sterling Desmond and a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. She was a founding member of New Calvary and was a former Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Senior Missionary Society and the D.Y. Campbell Club. She was a member of the Lindenwood Cottage Heights-Barraud Park Civic League and the Barraud Park Neighborhood Club.

She is survived by nieces, Helen W. Copeland of Virginia Beach and Priscilla W. Coleman of New York; and a nephew, Donald K. Mouring Sr. of Norfolk; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. G.G. Campbell in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
