SUSIE J. MANSFIELD

Susie Cassandra Galvin Johnson Mansfield, of 1200 South St., died Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, in her residence.

She was a native of Danville, Va., born May 11, 1899, to the late Rev. Alexander A. Galvin and Mrs. Jannie Toes Galvin. After completing the elementary and high schools of Danville, Va., she attended Virginia Theological Seminary and College, Lynchburg, Va.; Virginia State College, Petersburg, Va.; Hampton Institute, Hampton, Va. She taught and retired after 42 years in the Southampton-Franklin School System and 20 years in the Maryland School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Franklin; the Union Baptist Church, Baltimore; the senior choirs; and the family choir, Franklin. She was affiliated with the Virginia Retirement System, Maryland Retirement System and the Sea Vamp Senior Citizens. She served as president for the corporation of the William M. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, Inc.

Her survivors are her son, Raymond T.H. Johnson Sr., of Franklin; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Galvin Patterson of Baltimore; seven grandchildren, Raystine D. Johnson of Franklin, Earl Johnson of Tocoma, Wa., Amanda Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Raymond T.H. Johnson Jr., of Alexandria, Va., Charles H. Johnson, of Winston Salem, N.C., Orpheus Johnson of Durham, Violet Johnson of Charlotte; and seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and cousins.

A funeral will be held Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, 318 Hall St., Franklin, Va., at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Blunt officiating. The remains will be placed in church for viewing at 11 a.m. Wm. M. Johnson & Sons, Inc., is in charge of the arrangements.
