DAMON TATEM IS NEW CHAIRMAN OF FISHERIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Damon Tatem, owner of a Nags Head tackle shop, is the new chairman of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Advisory Committee.

Tatem, a representative of recreational anglers, also is active on various committees of North Carolina's Marine Fisheries Commission and the state's Moratorium Steering Committee.

Officials said that as chairman of the regional advisory committee,

Tatem will help the 2-year-old group ``advise the commission concerning carrying out its mission to promote the better utilization of the fisheries . promotion and protection of such fisheries'' and ``provide greater public input into the development and monitoring of fishery management plans under the commission's Interstate Fishery Management Program.''

Hatteras Island commercial fisherman William A. ``Bill'' Foster, bluefish advisory panel.

North Carolina Fisheries Association Executive Director Jerry Schill, striped bass advisory panel.

Wanchese commercial fish company executive Billy Carl Tillett, weakfish advisory panel.
