Mabel B. Cox, 92, of the 2700 block of Beachmont Ave., a retired teacher, died Nov. 18, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Cox was born in Norfolk and was the widow of J.G.W. Cox. She was retired from the Gary public school system after more than 25 years. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, the Board of Christian Education, Board of Directors Credit Union, Woman's Club, Missionary Society and many other activities. She was a Virginia affiliation member alumna chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Salvation Army Merry Hearts Club.
Survivors include nieces, Edith Adam of Long Island, N.Y., Louella F. Atwater of Hampton; nephews, Clarence Blow of Hampton, James Blow of Piscataway, N.J., Louis Blow of Tallahassee, Fla.; a dear friend, Elizabeth B. Perkins of Norfolk; and many other friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Dr. J.L. White. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The remains will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at the home for the processional to the church.
