WILLIAM C. FLAX JR.

William Charles ``Hawk-Bill'' Flax Jr., 29, of the 500 block of Dorset Ave., died Nov. 30, 1995, in Christian Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Flax, an over the road truck driver, worked for Builders Transport, Inc. for six years. He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and a former member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, Portsmouth. He was a graduate of Cradock High School, Portsmouth.

Survivors include his mother, Edith M. Flax of Portsmouth; his father, Dr. William C. Flax Sr. of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Theresa K. Flax of Portsmouth; a brother, Tariq Abdul-Hakeem of Portsmouth; four aunts, Christine Henderson of Baltimore, Ernestine Graham of Chesapeake, Barbara Carouthers of Portsmouth, and Lula Washington of Detroit, Mich.; two uncles, Jesse Flax of Camden, N.J., and Paul Hampton of Portsmouth; two nieces, Lanesha Allen and Felishe Flax, both of Portsmouth; two great-aunts, Maxine Wright and Anne Williams, both of Portsmouth; two great-uncles, George Lashley and James Lashley, both of Portsmouth; godparents, Cecil Orange and Florence Orange, both of Clementon, N.J.; and a host of cousins and a close friend, Larry Jones.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will be private and for family only. The body will be taken to the church prior to the funeral. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
