Retired U.S. Navy Chief Torpedoman Norman J. ``Gil'' Giltrap, 69, died Dec. 8, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Giltrap retired from the Navy after 22 years of service. He was also retired from civil service after 15 years, and as a stagehand at Norfolk Scope and Chrysler Hall. He was a native of New York, N.Y. and a member of Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)60, and member of the following motorcycle clubs, AMA, Motoguzzi, Retreads and Venture Touring Society. He was a naval veteran of World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Giltrap; two daughters, Judith A. Serbian of San Diego, Calif., Sharon L. Smith of Lawton, Okla.; a son, James O. Giltrap of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a Fleet Reserve service held at the funeral home today at 7 p.m., where the family will remain until 9 p.m. to receive friends. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Military honors will be accorded at the grave.
