Evelyn Grimes Brown, 79, formerly of Charlotte Drive, died Dec. 14, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Portsmouth and the widow of Charles ``Dolly'' Brown. She was a retired manager of Old Hickory and Portsmouth Bowl Bowling Alleys. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and she also was a member of Ceramic Club of Beazley Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda W. Naylor of Awendaw, S.C.; son, Charles ``Gene'' Brown of Chesapeake; sister, Margaret ``Maggie'' Warren of Portsmouth; and five grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany Brown, and JoAnna, Jack and Patrick Naylor.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Pinecrest Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Potter and the Rev. Damon Wyatt. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
