HONORS, AWARDS

The College of William and Mary won first place for the second straight year at Arthur Andersen's Tax Challenge. Arthur Andersen & Co. S.C. Foundation awarded the Williamsburg school $20,000 for winning the tax test.

William and Mary's winners included Gail Carlon of Prince George, Va.; Lori Ann Koons of Chambersburg, Pa.; Joe Marotta of Mendham, N.J.; and Jason Williams of Fairfax, Va. Professor Jim Smith was team advisor.

Special Interest Video Association awarded Metro Video Productions of Williamsburg top honors in the sports video category for production of The Hitter's Commandments, a video on batting techniques for young baseball players.

Virginia recipients of Winn-Dixie's Good Citizenship Awards program include Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk.

The Mary Morton Parson Foundation gave the Jamestown-Yorktown Educational Trust $100,000 for continued development of an 18th-century farm replica at Yorktown Victory Center.

Atarus Professional Personnel in Virginia Beach was awarded a $1 million contract to provide personnel staffing services to the Givens Companies in Chesapeake.

NEW BUSINESSES

Strategic Business Partners, based in Hartland, Wis., has opened a Newport News office for public relations, advertising and writing services.

CONTRACTS

Hathaway-Duke Construction Co. of Virginia Beach has received contracts to build two new Revco Drug Stores, one on Victory Boulevard in Portsmouth and one at Lafayette Boulevard and Tidewater Drive in Norfolk. Total amount of the contracts is $1.4 million.

Image Contracting Inc., of Norfolk won a $249,000 contract from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Norfolk for the maintenance, repair and alteration of real property.

Holland-Delk-Holland of Portsmouth won a $62,286 equipment contract from the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Norfolk.

Dreadnought Marine Inc. of Norfolk won an $89,000 supply contract from the Navy in Portsmouth.

Marine Hydraulic International Inc. of Norfolk won a $256,182 supply contract from the Navy in Portsmouth.

Davis Boat Works Inc. of Newport News won a $303,991 supply contract from the Navy in Portsmouth.

Tecnico Corp. of Chesapeake won a $631,475 supply contract from the Navy.

Holmes Brothers Enterprisers Inc. of Portsmouth won an $81,260 supply contract from the Navy.
