CAREER TRACK

BANKING

Terry P. Simmons, Patricia Bedrosian and Owen J. Moore were named senior vice presidents for The Bank of Tidewater on Laskin Road. Simmons joined the bank in 1985 and has held the position of vice president/branch administration since 1988. Bedrosian also joined the bank in 1985 and has held the position of vice president of operations since 1988. And Moore joined the bank in 1993 as vice president and commercial loan officer.

COMPUTERS

Denise Murray was appointed as systems engineering manager at Inacom in Norfolk. She was formerly in the same position with AmeriData Inc. in Norfolk and was an information systems consultant with Metro Information Services in Virginia Beach.

James Ashmore was named a consulting engineer at Inacom. He was formerly a senior systems engineer with AmeriData Inc. and a technical manager with Visual Solutions.

Also, Gary Crumpler was named a senior systems engineer at Inacom. He was formerly a systems engineer with AmeriData Inc. and a systems engineer with Computerland in Norfolk.

And, Phil Hammond was appointed a systems engineer. He was formerly a systems engineer with AmeriData Inc.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Ellen R. Mahon, a family Mahon medicine practitioner, is practicing at the Sentara Health Care Center, Salem on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and formerly practiced at the Sentara Health Care Center, Kempsville.

Kimberley D. Mercer was named executive director of Solutions Counseling Services Inc. in Norfolk, which opened Dec. 1. She will oversee the treatment of psychotherapy services for children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. Gregory M. Meyer, an internal medicine specialist, is practicing at the Sentara Health Care Center, Fairfield, Virginia Beach. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and formerly practiced at the Sentara Health Care Center, Kempsville.

The Sentara Health System Board of Directors appointed Howard P. Kern to senior vice president in charge of care delivery and Richard D. Hill to senior vice president over support services. Kern has served as Sentara Hospitals - Norfolk execug6hill Hill tive vice president since 1990 and as Sentara Norfolk General Hospital senior vice president/chief operating officer since 1986. Hill has served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Sentara Health System since May 1984.

LAW

J. Gray Lawrence Jr. was named a member of Faggert & Frieden in Chesapeake. He will continue to specialize in the areas of commercial and appellate litigation, personal injury and criminal defense. He was formerly a partner with Howell, Daugherty, Brown & Lawrence in Norfolk.

MEDIA

Paul Teja was named director of direct market sales at the International Family Entertainment Inc. in Virginia Beach. He will oversee direct response sales activities and direct market sales venture and projects. Previously, he served as manager of direct market sales for the International Family Entertainment and was an account executive for The Family Channel.

And, Mike Gwartney was named vice president of programming/operations at the International Family Entertainment Inc. in Virginia Beach. He will oversee the entire programming operations department. Previously, he served as director of programming at the company and was instrumental in launching two international cable networks, The Family Channel (UK) and The Family Channel De Las Americas.

MORTGAGE

Kevin W. Hull and Edward O. Yoder were elected to the board of directors at Beach Fed Mortgage Corp. Hull is vice president and branch manager of Beach Fed's Chesapeake office in the Greenbrier area. Yoder is vice president and branch manager of the company's Virginia Beach office at Pavilion Center.

MUSEUM

Hersey C. Forehand was named marketing coordinator for the Virginia Marine Science Museum in Virginia Beach. He most recently served as marketing promotions specialist for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Richmond.

ORGANIZATIONS

R.B. ``Happy'' Hogshire, president of Hogshire Industries Inc., a manufacturer of canvas awnings, canopies and specialty canvas products for home and industries in the Mid Atlantic states, was elected to the board of Awning Division of the Industrial Fabrics Association International.
