EFFIE D. BAINES

Effie Lee Duke Baines, 84, of Suffolk, died Dec. 23, 1995, in a hospital.

Mrs. Baines was born in Nansemond County, Va., and was the widow of William Wilbur Baines. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Suffolk and was also a member of Ladies Fellowship. She was predeceased by her parents, Lena Annie Parker Duke and William Thomas Duke, a daughter, Virginia Mae Miller and a son, Clarence Rudolph Baines.

Survivors include a daughter, Margie Ann Neill of Suffolk; two sons, William Frank ``Mickey'' Baines of Raleigh, N.C., and Otis Lee Baines of Suffolk; a sister, Hazel D. Respass of Virginia Beach; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David L. Wilson in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Hill Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home of Otis Lee Baines, 524 Oscar Babb Lane, Suffolk. Memorials to Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
