Joe Ralph Everett, 71, of the 1300 block of Maltby Ave., died Feb. 22, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Everett, a retired construction worker for Ames and Webb Contractors, was born in Gates County, N.C. He was the son of the late Mary C. Edmonds and Mike Everett. He was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Como, N.C.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria E. Cotton; a son, Joe R. Everett Jr.; three sisters, Elnora E. Biggs of Suffolk, Gertrude E. Burwell of Atlanta, and Ropelle E. Richards of Hampton; a brother, Samuel Everett of Newark, N.J.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a devoted companion of over 35 years, Mrs. Anna L. Harvey of Norfolk. He will also be sadly missed by two aunts, Lucille E. Williams and Naomi C. Lawrence.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Riddick Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Viewing will held Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.
