HOW ABOUT SOME POSITIVE PUBLICITY?

Every time I have picked up The Virginian-Pilot during the past two weeks, I have read something negative about the Virginia Beach public-school system. A part of me feels sick realizing that the entire system gets negative publicity for a few people making bad decisions.

A school system is more than a superintendent, a financial officer and a school board. Although I am disheartened by the financial mismanagement at the Beach, I realize a lot of wonderful things happen every day that go unnoticed. A lot of administrators, teachers and other staff members work endless hours, often on their own time, to provide quality education for the children of Virginia Beach.

To counter the overwhelmingly negative impression left by the continuing financial crisis, I suggest you write a series of articles that help focus on the many positive things that are happening in Virginia Beach Schools in the midst of the problems.
