CLIFFORD J. NICHOLAS

Clifford J. ``Pop'' Nicholas, 71, of 33 Hemlock Lane, passed away March 26, 1996, in Halifax Memorial Hosptial in Roanoke Rapids.

He was a York Mason. He was a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V. He was also a member of the Fraternal Organization of Police in Virginia Beach. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Eagles in Roanoke Rapids. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and Police Auxiliary in Virginia Beach. He was a retired civil engineer in Virginia Beach and was a World War II navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude E. Nicholas of the home; one daughter, Judy ``Kim'' A. Deshano of Rome, Italy; two sons, Charles L. Lupole of Scranton, Pa., Gary Lupole of Shenandoah Valley, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hockaday Funeral Home Chapel, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., conducted by Minister Greg Hand. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 33 Hemlock Lane, Littleton.
