DONALD P. THOMAS

Capt. Donald P. Thomas, 86, of Westminster Canterbury, died April 24, 1996, in a Virginia Beach hospital.

He was a retired master overseas captain for Pan American World Airways where he had worked for 32 years. Mr. Thomas was a native of Youngstown, Ohio, and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. He was a member of La Voyagers and the Airline Pilots Association. He was a a mason and served as a labor negotiator for the Airline Pilots Association. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of Michigan with a masters degree in Forestry and Wildlife Management. Mr. Thomas was also a member of the Association for Aircraft Owners and Pilots.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby H. Thomas; three daughters, Stephanie Cassam of Medford, Ore., Jennifer E. Thomas of Virginia Beach, Merrylisa Thomas of Santa Monica, Calif.; three sons, Timothy H. Thomas, Peter D. Thomas, and Christopher H. Thomas, all of Virginia Beach; brother, Richard Thomas of Santa Monica, Calif.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Dr. Stanley W. Sawyer in All Saints Episcopal Church, 1968 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach. Burial will be at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Nature Conservancy Virginia Chapter, 1233 A. Cedars Court, Charlottesville, Va. 22903-4800.
