HENRY E. TURNER

Henry Earl Turner, 81, of the 4000 block of Dartmouth St., died April 27, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.

A native of Isle of Wight County, he retired in 1976 from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a welder after 28 years of service. He was a member of West End United Methodist Church in Portsmouth. Mr. Turner was a self-made man of many talents. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Lee Stublen Turner, the mother of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Anzy G. Turner; two daughters, Bonnie Whitley and Chris T. Jessee and her husband, Bill; a son, Phillip Richard Turner; three sisters, Helen Compton and her husband, Harry, Bertie Scott and her husband, Rae, and Rita Edmiston and her husband, Chuck; a brother, Tommy Turner; three granddaughters; a stepdaughter, Anzy L. Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Neal Sasser. Friends may call at the home, 4010 Dartmouth St., or at his daughter's home at 2400 Sterling Point Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge.
