VERALIN W. GATLIN

Veralin Wright Gatlin, of the 400 block of North Witchduck Road, died April 26, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Mrs. Gatlin was a retired produce clerk for Farm Fresh where she had worked for 38 years. She was a native of Princess Anne County and the widow of Raymond Gatlin. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, where she was a former president of the Hospitality Club and a former leader of Roses of Virginia Beach. She was a member of Willing Workers, United Order of Tents, and Widows Club. She was also a deaconess.

She is survived by three daughters, Earline Gatlin Smith of San Jose, Calif., LaRosa Gatlin of Virginia Beach and Lavera Gatlin Lawrence of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Cora W. Freeman, Hattie W. Hodges and Geraldine Wright-Harold, all of Virginia Beach; brother, Henry Wright of Camder, N.C.; grandchildren, Robin T. Griffin, William M. Turner Jr., Sonja T. Lane, Josie L. Gatlin, Dibbi L. Gatlin, Raymond G. Gatlin, Katrina M. Lawrence, Kelsey A. Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Aaron L. Turner, Marquita G. Gatlin, Jordan R.G. Parker, Zachery L. Gatlin; 38 nieces and nephews; a son-in-law, Cliffton Smith Jr. of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Hattie C. and Archie Wright.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by Dr. B.K. Thoroughgood in New Saint John A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers may be sent to Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
