SEVERN A. NOTTINGHAM JR.

Dr. Severn Alfred Nottingham Jr., husband of Laura Wright Nottingham and former Nassawadox dentist, died at his home Monday, April 29, 1996. He was 72.

Born and reared in Franktown, he was the son of the late Severn A. and Nan Nunnery Nottingham. He was a graduate of Northampton High School, attended the University of Virginia, and was also a graduate of the University of Buffalo Dental School in Buffalo, N.Y. After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years as a ship's dentist, he began a dentistry practice in Nassawadox in 1950 from which he retired in 1985. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he served several terms as a deacon and was also a member of the Men's Club and choir. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoor enthusiast.

Besides his wife of 45 years, Dr. Nottingham is also survived by three children, S. Alfred Nottingham III, Spencer Wright Nottingham, and Laura Leigh N. Savage; and two grandchildren, Spencer Wright Nottingham Jr. and Nan Jacob Nottingham.

A graveside service will be held May 1, 1996 at 11 a.m. in Franktown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, P.O. Box 932, Nassawadox, Va. 23413 or Hospice Support of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 300, Onancock, Va. 23417. B.D. Holland Funeral Home, Nassawadox, is in charge of the arrangements.
