NEW PRESIDENT NAMED IN COMMONWEALTH COLLEGE CHANGES

Eric Donaldson was named Commonwealth College's new president Monday, taking leadership of the career school's three Virginia campuses in Virginia Beach, Hampton and Richmond.

He replaces Maritza Samoorian, who will direct another of parent company Bryant & Stratton's campuses in New York state. Kenneth R. Sigmon, chief financial officer and executive vice president of Commonwealth College, resigned.

Samoorian and Sigmon arrived several years ago to steer the college through a difficult period. Commonwealth College settled a lawsuit in November 1994 in which the state alleged that the private business school engaged in consumer fraud.

As part of the settlement, the school vowed not to tell students that their credits would count toward bachelor's degrees at four-year colleges and not to guarantee ``employment of a certain kind or at a certain salary level.'' by CNB
