TALLWOOD'S EVERETT SIGNS LETTER TO ATTEND RADFORD

All-Tidewater guard Rian Everett of Tallwood has signed a basketball scholarship with Radford.

Everett averaged 18.9 points, 6 assists and 5 steals per game last winter and is the Lions' all-time leading scorer with 1,297 points.

``It's the best fit for Rian,'' Tallwood coach Johnny Pope said, citing the availability of playing time, academics and the level of competition.

Radford recruited Everett as a point guard, although he played primarily shooting guard as a senior.

``We like his quickness and athleticism,'' Radford coach Ron Bradley said. ``We think he can be a scoring point guard.''

The Highlanders, 14-13 last season, have two guards returning who can play the point, both seniors. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
