PARK GETTING A NEW NAME

ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by DAVID B. HOLLINGSWORTH

Friday, April 26, marked the anniversary of the day in 1607 when 105

English settlers first set foot on Virginia's shores. It was also

the day the state unveiled the new entrance sign at Seashore State

Park adding the name First Landing to the park's identity.

Representing the first settlers at the unveiling are, from left,

Joseph Maio costumed as Parson Robert Hunt, George Bauder as Adm.

Christopher Newport and Randy Keiser as Capt. Gabriel Archer. At

right is park manager Fred Hazelwood.
