MASCO L. BARRETT

Masco L. Barrett, 71, of the 400 block of Stonewall St., died April 28, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was a native of Southampton County and retired from truck driving after 30 years from the Franklin City Schools. He was the widower of Velma L. Barrett and the son of the late Shephard Barrett and Freddie Barrett. He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, and was chairman of the deacon board, senior usher board, and Sunday school class (NU)1. He was a member of the 55 and over Bowling League, and Franklin City FCEA.

Survivors include a son, Masco L. Barrett Jr.; daughter-in-law, Wanda Barrett; daughter, Portia Barrett Robertson; son-in-law, Jerome Robertson; sisters, Ruth Barrett and Cora Parker, both of New York, Mildred Vaughan of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph H. Goode. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge. The remains will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
