Louise L. Strickland, 80, of the 300 block of Main St., died May 2, 1996, in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Mrs. Strickland was a native of Herford County, N.C., a graduate of Chowan College, and taught math, history, and music in Bertie County and Hertford County public schools for 38 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, but attended Woodland United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano for church services. At the time of her death she was a resident at the Alaska Pioneers Home. Her greatest loves were her family, her faith, and her piano and organ music and the joy it gave to others.

She is survived by her loving son and his wife, Joe and Jean Griffin of Ketchikan; her grandson and his wife, Joe Jr. and Renee; her grandson, Nathan; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr. and Michael, Asia, and Cynthia Anne. Louise was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert (A.P.) Griffin and Herbert Strickland.
