George S. Baines, 62, of the 4700 block of Windermere Ave., died May 16, 1996, in a local hospital.
He was retired after 29 years from Wells Construction where he worked as an acoustic ceiling mechanic. Mr. Baines was a native of Ash, N.C.
He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Baines; a stepson, David F. Mertz of Chesapeake; two sisters, Beatrice Simmons of Delco, N.C., Lela Mae Lewis of Spring Hope, N.C.; two brothers, Eugene Baines of Ash, N.C., Tony Baines of Wilmington, N.C.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Thomas Hutton in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
