Deborah K. Stearns was appointed executive vice president of Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler. In this new position, she will serve as the chief operating officer of the company's brokerage business including office, industrial and retail leasing and sales in the Norfolk, Richmond, Newport News, Raleigh and Durham offices. Stearns was previously senior vice president responsible for the Norfolk office leasing division. She joined the Norfolk-based real estate company in 1975.

COLLECTION SERVICES

Gary E. Hartman was named vice president at Credit Service in Norfolk. He will lead the firm's property management services division. He was previously president of Lawson Realty Corp.

MANUFACTURING

Charles Schwender was named vice president, national sales manager of Sumitomo Machinery Corp. of America in Chesapeake. He was general manager, USA sales, for FAG Bearings Corp. in Stamford, Conn.

MEDIA

Paul Newton was appointed senior vice president, international business development at International Family Entertainment Inc. He will be based in Virginia Beach starting in July and will develop and oversee the company's worldwide investments. He formerly served as managing director of The Family Channel's sister network in the United Kingdom.

Roy Polevoy was appointed vice president of creative services at International Family Entertainment. He will be responsible for the creation and production of on-air promotions, print advertising and graphics for The Family Channel, FiT TV and other IFE entities. Before joining the company in January, he was with the American Broadcasting Co.

Debra Bunn was named vice president and controller of The Family Channel. She will be based in Virginia Beach and will oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting for domestic and international cable networks owned by IFE. She became controller in charge of accounting operations and financial reporting for The Family Channel and FiT TV in 1994.

Also, International Family Entertainment named Beth Clark vice president, controller of MTM Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of IFE. She is based in Virginia Beach and will be in charge of all accounting operations and financial reporting for the production and syndication entities of IFE. She joined IFE in 1991 as a senior accountant and was promoted to controller of MTM in 1993.

And, Mike Quintana was named manager of IFE Internet ventures and Clint Bailey was named manager of Internet operations. The new Internet ventures group is a joint development of IFE's information services and corporate marketing groups. Quintana most recently served in IFE's corporate marketing department as a special projects manager. Bailey was coordinator of events and conventions for IFE.

Bell Atlantic Video Services has appointed three members of the management team who will be responsible for the introduction of Bell Atlantic's wireless digital TV service to customers in Hampton Roads. William P. Morton was appointed vice president and general manager of the Hampton Roads system. He was general manager of Cablevision Systems Corp. franchises in Chicago and Massachusetts. Also joining his staff are Noel Y. Beecroft as director, external affairs and Anthony Panella as director, technical operations. Beecroft was a marketing specialist for eastern Virginia for Bell Atlantic-Virginia. And Panella was manager-network operations for Bell Atlantic-Virginia. The Chesapeake operation is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 1997.

MEDIA

Terry Blevins, director of finance for Landmark Communications, was appointed controller of The Virginian-Pilot, a division of Landmark. Prior to joining Landmark in 1995, she was director of budgets and financial analysis for Telecable Corp.

MUSEUMS

Colby ``Tom'' Cooper was named director of operations at Nauticus. He will oversee the building and grounds, maintenance, security, exhibits and aquaria. He was assistant operations manager for Hecht's Department Stores at Lynnhaven Mall.

TRAVEL

Paul F. Barry was named director of corporate sales and services at Shoreline International Travel in Virginia Beach. He was manager of passenger sales with American Airlines.
