MABLE D. TOWNSEND

Mable Delaurice Townsend of the 900 block of Bells Mill Road, died June 14, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Townsend was born in Norfolk County and was retired as an educator from STOP Organization. She was a member of Lee's Chapel AME Church in Chesapeake and a Senior Choir member.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Robert Townsend; four daughters, Pricilla D. Freeman, Lendora C. Holley and Dwanna Y. King, all of Portsmouth, and Andrienne K. Green of Chesapeake; four sons, Payton B. Townsend of Praire, Miss., Willie Townsend Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Morris L. Jones and Darryl D. Townsend, both of Chesapeake; a sister, Margaret Richardson and a brother, Morris W. Etheridge Jr., both of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lee's Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Horace Cross. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk, and will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family will assemble at the residence for the procession at noon.
