NORTH CAROLINA POLICE BLOTTER ALBEMARLE AREA CRIME REPORT

This information was provided by authorities to help keep citizens informed of police activities in their areas.

KILL DEVIL HILLS

STOLEN ``JET SKI'' RECOVERED: A $6,500 Yamaha brand ``jet ski'' and anchor stolen off the beach around 3:10 a.m. Friday were found about 30 minutes later, thanks to the cooperation of witnesses.

Charges were expected this weekend against two male and two female suspects, a spokesman for the Kill Devil Hills Police Department said.

The theft occurred around Milepost 6. The jet ski has been returned to its owner.

BURGLARIES, LARCENIES:

A television, videocassette recorder and other household items were reported stolen on June 8 from a burglarized home on Third Street. The value of the missing items, which also included small power tools, is $1,614.

On June 12, a car was broken into on Carlton Street during the early morning, and electronic equipment, compact discs and tools were taken. The estimated worth of the items is $1,150.

Among other break-ins and thefts reported last week:

Two vehicles parked in front of a rental cottage on North Virginia Dare Trail were broken into during the early hours of Wednesday, June 12.

Stolen items included a compact disc player, compact discs and cash. Total loss is valued at $400.

Larceny of an auto was reported at 9:35 a.m. on June 9 in the area of North Memorial Avenue. A cellular phone and compact disc player valued at $215 were stolen.

A BMX Magnum 2000 bicycle worth $450 was stolen from in front of a cottage on South Virginia Dare Trail. The theft was reported at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

A $300 Hampton Cruiser three-speed bicycle was reported stolen June 9 on Durham Street.

A vehicle was burglarized around 7:10 a.m. June 9 on Memorial Drive. Electrical equipment and golf clubs, valued at $1,400, were also missing.

These and other thefts from cars and residences during the week are being investigated by the KillDevil Hills police.

COTTAGE, BATH HOUSE VANDALIZED:

A cottage on Raymond Avenue was reported vandalized about 2 p.m. on June 6. Police believe a B.B. gun was used to shoot through a sliding-glass door, causing $300 in damage.

Also, about $200 in damage was done to the Kill Devil Hills Bath House at Ocean Bay Boulevard.

AHOSKIE

MARIJUANA ARRESTS: Ahoskie police have had a run on marijuana arrests recently, charging five people in three separate incidents during the past 1 1/2 weeks.

Joseph Jackson, 19, of Rocky Mount was arrested Wednesday, June 12, on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of stolen property during a traffic stop on Main Street.

Last Monday, June 10, two 15-year-olds were arrested and charged with possessing marijuana on the grounds of Robert L. Vann Elementary School.

One juvenile was charged with possessing marijuana with the intent to sell and deliver; the other was charged with possession.

In a third incident on June 7, two Ahoskie men were arrested and charged with growing marijuana in their house on Carolina Street.

Jesse R. Sumner, 20, and Donald P. Upchurch, 19, were each charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, manufacturing marijuana, and maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance.

The arrests were a joint effort of the Ahoskie Police Department and the Roanoke-Chowan Narcotics Task Force. by CNB
