THE NEBRASKA COMES TO NORFOLK

ILLUSTRATION: VICKI CRONIS

The Virginian-Pilot

The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine Nebraska has made a rare

call to the Norfolk Naval Base this week for today's

change-of-command ceremony honoring Vice Adm. George Emery,

Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Emery, who is

retiring in New England, will be relieved by Vice Adm. Richard Mies.

The Nebraska, homeported at the Naval Submarine Base in Kings Bay,

Ga., is docked at Pier 12. Norfolk is home to attack submarines, but

to none of these larger Trident missile vessels. by CNB
