Trans World Airlines Inc. opened its East Coast reservations center at Lake Wright Executive Center in Norfolk. The airline said the facility adds 500 jobs to the area and will distribute an annual payroll of $16 million.

The 40,000-square-foot reservations office, with 454 workstations, will handle a portion of TWA's 30 million annual reservations inquiries, the airline said. The airline is transferring about 20 administration/supervisory personnel and approximately 45 reservation personnel.

The facility also houses the TWA Academy with 40 training stations that will conduct up to three classes of about 20 students per class.

Also, the new Firestone Tire and Service Center in Norfolk will deliver you, via a van shuttle, to your office while it services you vehicle, and lend you a pager to alert you when your can is ready.

Bill Cuomo, manager, said the Firestone location may negotiate corporate discounts for companies with large numbers of employees
