MARY M. CLARK

Mary Marshall Clark, of the 2900 block of Berkley Ave., departed this life July 9, 1996, at the age of 91.

She was born on Jan. 11, 1905, in Beaufort County, N.C. She was the widow of Frank Anderson Clark Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1969. She was the daughter of the late Mary Lucretia ``Molly'' Edwards and John Marshall Cox of Beaufort County, N.C. One brother, Fenner Columbus Cox, preceded her in death in 1971. She was married on Sept. 1, 1918, in Beaufort County and from that union, 12 children were born, two of whom preceded her in death. They were Stephen Charlie Clark, who died in 1976, and Lurel Malcolm Clark, who died in 1980, both of Bath, N.C. She is also preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by the following children: seven daughters, Liddie Cretens of South Milwaukee, Wisc., Marie Swindell of Bath, Joliene Byrd Clark of Chesapeake, Sylvia Ann Mills of Greenville, N.C., Mary Frances Woolard of Bath, Wanda Maye Foreman of Pinetown, N.C., Winnie Hylton of Chesapeake; three sons, Frank Anderson Clark Jr. of Bath, Donald Sedrian Clark of Bath and Mylon Ray Clark of the home. Mrs. Clark also leaves 40 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Luther William Cox and Fenner Forrest ``Snooks'' Cox of Beaufort County, N.C.

The funeral service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Bill Ralph officiating. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Doric Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.
