MINNIE S. MAINER

Minnie S. Mainer, 55, of the 2800 block of Halsey St., died July 13, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was a secretary for the Chesapeake Public School System and retired in 1996 after 18 years of service. Born in Norfolk County, she was a member of Centerville Chapel A.M.E. Church, Fentress, Chesapeake. She was a member and secretary of the Senior Choir and a member of the Stewardess Board. She was one of the first meter maids in New York City.

Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Mainer and Daren Mainer of Chesapeake; foster mother, Elizabeth Taylor of Chesapeake; a sister, Marie S. Luster of Chesapeake; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday in Centerville Chapel A.M.E. Church, Fentress, by the Rev. Horace Cross with the Rev. Richard Walker, pastor, assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge.
