ELVIS F. PARSON

Elvis Fitzgerald Parson, 33, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996, at Louise Obici Hospital, Suffolk. He was a native of Surry County.

He was a 1981 graduate of Surry County High School, Surry, where he was a member of the ``Marching Cougars'' band. He was a 1986 graduate of Norfolk State University, where he received his bachelor of science, in general business and marketing. He was a member of the Spartan's Legion Band, serving as recording secretary, while in college and became a member of the Norfolk State Alumni Band upon graduation with profound enthusiasm and dedication. He also received a degree of Associate in Arts in Fashion Merchandising from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Ga.

He was a member of Surry Co. NAACP. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Elvis worked in several managerial positions in the Atlanta area before returning to Virginia where he was employed by Proffit's in Hampton. He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, Elberon.

He is survived by his parents, Zelna H. Parson Sr. and Vivian Tyler Parson, both of Elberon; four brothers, Wayman of Virginia Beach, Zelna Jr. of Ivor, Va., Allen Sr. of Elberon, Earrett Sr. of Chesapeake; five sisters, Carolyn P. Jones of Emporia, Va., Eunice P. Gay of Surry, Sharon P. Lofton of Virginia Beach, Esther P. Pierce of Portsmouth, Tunasia Parson of Hampton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cypress Baptist Church, Elberon with the Rev. Charles W. Nellum Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mount Morriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Poole's Funeral Home, Smithfield.
