CECILIA B. IRWIN

Cecilia Irwin Hulcher Brooks Irwin died Aug. 11, 1996, three blocks from where she was born 88 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary Rose Irwin Hulcher.

She graduated in 1931 from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Md. with a degree in dietetics. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia, at St. Vincent DePaul Hospital in Norfolk and at St. Paul's Elementary School in Portsmouth. She lived on Deep Creek Blvd. most of her adult life. She passed away at Beverly Manor Nursing Home where she had lived for the past 12 years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Reginald Ray Brooks, and her second husband, Joseph Charles Irwin.

She is survived by a daughter, Cecilia Brooks Fry, a son, Reginald Robert Brooks, a grandson, Alfred Andrew Fry, and a granddaughter, Theresa Marie Fry.

A visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The funeral will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Thomas B. Nee. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, at 2:30 p.m.
