Margaret White Smithson, 87, died Aug. 21, 1996.
Mrs. Smithson, the widow of David R. Smithson Sr., was a native of South Norfolk. She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include a son and his wife, D.R. and Betty Lou Smithson Jr. of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Blair Smithson Archibald of Front Royal, Va., John Berchman Smithson of Newport News, and Catherine Smithson Dewan of Virginia Beach; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Tommy Taylor in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial contributions should be made to Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad or Centerville Baptist Church. Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
