Regarding the Virginia Beach School Board case of supposed malfeasance in office: School Board members, all volunteers, are entitled to the services of an internal auditor, responsible to the board only, and empowered to look at any figures at any time. Board members could not run their own business or personal financial affairs on the kind of information prescribed by the state for school-district affairs.
No corporate board would be content with the kind of weak oversight school board members can provide under the current monthly barrage of endless ridiculously detailed but meaningless figures.
