Winnie Wilkins Hughes, 86, of the 6500 block of Blackwater Road, died Friday, Sept. 6, 1996, at her residence.
Born in Ransomville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Emma Foster Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hughes and was a member of the Blackwater Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia H. Cliver and Jean H. Martin, both of Virginia Beach; a son, Jerry M. Hughes of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Bessie Hughes of Chesapeake, Katie Manning of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 1996, in Blackwater Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Ralph Horne. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, and at other times at the home of the son.
