LILLIAN V. ALSTON

Lillian Virginia Alston of the 1500 block of W. 42nd St. died Oct. 9, 1996, in her home.

She was a native of Nansemond County and was the widow of Thomas Alston. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute St., Norfolk, for 56 years. She was an active member of the Mary Mason Missionary Circle and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a member of Norfolk senior citizens organizations and participated in the Senior Olympics from 1986 to 1991.

Survivors include her son, James Edmonds of Norfolk; sisters, Addie Wilson and Hattie Outlaw of Suffolk and Arthalia Brown of Philadelphia; brother, Lewis Jones of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Corrine Jones; an aunt, Minnie Moody of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Casey Tate Jones, and her father, Ed Jones.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Bute St., Norfolk, by Dr. Robert G. Murrey. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park Cemetery, Suffolk. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Monday. The family and friends will assemble at 6536 Whitehorn Dr. at 12:30 p.m. for the procession to the church. Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, is in charge.
