KATHERINE E. THOMAS

Katherine E. Thomas, 69, formerly of 2407 Palmer St., died Oct. 15, 1996, in Oakcrest Manor Retirement Center, Chesapeake.

A native of Portsmouth, she was the widow of John Maurice Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a registered nurse for Portsmouth Naval Hospital, retiring after 30 years service. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Church (NU)1, Portsmouth.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Johnson of Richmond, Michael Thomas of Raleigh, N.C., and Maurice Thomas of Hampton; two sisters, Marjorie Lee and Carolyn Joyner, both of Portsmouth; brothers, Clifton V. Etheridge of Baltimore and James Etheridge of New York, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Church (NU)1, Chesapeake, by Bishop Samuel Bess and Elder Bernard White. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Saturday. Family members will be at 1919 Laigh Circle, Portsmouth, where they will assemble for the funeral service. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
