GERTRUDE G. GREGORY

Gertrude G. ``Gert'' Gregory, 60, of the 800 block of Madison St., went to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 1996. She died in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Born in Norfolk County, she was a retired charge registered nurse for Portsmouth General Hospital. A dedicated servant and faithful member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, she was a member of Centennial Sunday School class, C.H. Jordan Crusaders Club, Hearts and Flowers Club, Nurses Unit, Tuesday Night Bible Study and past member of the gospel choir. Also she was a member of I.C. Norcom High School Class of 1954, Effingham Plaza Bible Study, the Civic League and the Volunteer Brigade.

Survivors include four daughters, Jean L. and Lanny White, Myra and James Reese Jr., both of Portsmouth, Victoria G. and Henry Broady Jr. of Chesapeake, Miriam A. and Saheb Valentin of Fort Worth, Texas; three sons, Theodore Gregory Jr. and Carol Gregory, Glen C. Gregory of Oakland, Calif., Conrad E. and Alice Gregory of Portsmouth; four sisters, Ursula and Wilbert Haywood, Joyce and Addison Mozelle, Roberta Riddick, all of Portsmouth, Gwendolyn and Stanley Bowman of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; aunts, Helen Banks and Laura Banks; uncles, William Minus and Wiley Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Gideon and Lucile Goodwyn.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at noon today in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday. The family will be at the home of Conrad Gregory, 26 Wayland Drive, Portsmouth, where they will assemble for the procession to the church.
