THOMAS E. COLLINS

Thomas E. ``T.C.'' Collins, a native of Norfolk, died Nov. 1, 1996, in his home in Willoughby.

He was the owner of ``T.C.'' Construction Co. of Norfolk. He, in the past, had built homes in Nashville, Tenn., Virginia Beach, as well as in Norfolk. His firm was most recently involved in the installation of vinyl siding on homes and businesses. He was a graduate of Fredrick Military Academy and attended the University of Virginia, including the ROTC program at the university. He was a Navy veteran and served aboard a U.S. destroyer during the quarantine of Cuba under order of President J.F. Kennedy.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. ``Ted'' Collins of Norfolk; his sister, Brenda Collins Kipper of Virginia Beach; sons, Thomas Craig Collins of Virginia Beach, Whitington B. Collins of Norfolk and John Carter Collins of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Jennifer Collins of Long Island, N.Y. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Kimberly, Meghan and Katie Collins of Brooksville, Maine; and several nieces and nephews in Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and all other times at T.C.'s parents' home. Memorial donations may be made to the Hope Haven Children's Home or to the Arthritis Foundation-Virginia Chapter, Hampton Roads Branch. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
